The Jini Stolk Creative Fellowship is now open for submissions

Toronto, September 6, 2023 – The Ontario Arts Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Jini Stolk Creative Fellowship. The Fellowship encourages the development of the field of arts management by providing $20,000 over two years ($10,000 each year) to an arts manager of a small to mid-sized Toronto arts organization.

About the Fellowship
2023 is the inaugural year of the Fellowship. It was created in memory of arts leader Jini Stolk and made possible through the generous support of lead donors Sandra and Jim Pitblado and Tim and Frances Price, as well as many others who contributed to the endowment that supports the fund. A new Fellow will be announced annually.

A true champion of the arts, Jini Stolk’s impact on the arts community in Toronto was far-reaching. Throughout her decades-long career, Jini held many leadership roles at arts organizations, including Creative Trust where she worked as Executive Director to raise and distribute more than six million dollars to support the sustainability of over 50 small and mid-sized performing arts organizations. She was also a dedicated volunteer, serving on many arts boards. At her death she was the Chair of the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.

Nomination Process
Individuals must be nominated for the Jini Stolk Creative Fellowship by a Toronto arts organization that employees the nominee. Nominations should consist of:

  • a one-page nomination letter from either the Chair or President of the Board of Directors or the Artistic Director of the nominee’s organization;

  • a 250-word letter of intent written by the nominee;

  • a budget that outlines the intended use of the funds, and;

  • a biography of the nominee or their CV.

Proposed activities for the Fellowship can include, but are not limited to:

  • Research

  • Travel

  • Conference fees

  • Professional development

  • Internships
